E621Keith
Search for PST80. Essentially a mod where a PST etalon is used with a 80mm refractor with an additional EFR. Many people have done it and produced great result even better than other Ha scope costing much more. Personally I don't have the guts to hack a solar telescope. You will void the warranty of your PST and you are doing the mod at your own risk. Some astro forums banned discussion of this mod and any images taken with one, but I don't think SGL does
Merlin66
As Keith has already said, you can increase the aperture (and resolution) by removing the gold tube and replacing it with a donor OTA. Fitted with a suitable energy rejection filter, this stage 1 Mod works very well and gives a significant lift in performance.Done correctly it is 100% safe, both to the PST "Black Box" and to you and your imaging equipment.I have a 6.5Mb write-up available on how to mod a PST - just drop me a PM with an email address and I'll send you a copy.(Kev is doing a mod involving a Vixen OTA as a donor -http://stargazerslounge.com/imaging-discussion/165083-lyra-optics-4-f11-scope-h-donor-scope.html)
