A bit of trouble with Venus

I,m having a bit of trouble with Venus.

Venus looks great in the early evening dusk

At low magnification it looks like a dim light.

At higer mag its a large dim light !

How do you look at Venus ?

Was wondering that myself, I appreciate that there is no detail as such to see but what color should it be?

How high was the magnification? If you go too high you end up with such a small exit pupil that the image can be severely darkened. Venus is tricky because its always in a part of the sky where you've got to look through the most amount of atmosphere. Good seeing is the only way to get good views.

Seeing any detail is going to be difficult, the most you can probably hope for is seeing the different phases. Have a look in the sketching section there is a good drawing of Venus.
