M42 Orion Nebula trapezium core 12 Nov 2011

Hi all,

It's been a while since I've posted anything in deep sky - my new scope got me distracted imaging Jupiter...

Santa brought me AstroArt 5 for Christmas so I've been spending the wet windy time playing with this since I can't capture any new data... Didn't have the OAG set up so below is the result of 5 second subs of M42 using my 11HD.

No colour data, I'm afraid. Maybe I'll go back and get some but this was really just a test of the new gear...

Ah-ha! Just found the feather command in PhotoPlus which means I can add a better mask layer to the core... Think the first one was a bit over-stretched too.

This one better?

If you have a series of subs you could drizzle them to get additional detail.
