Observing/imaging set-up critique needed please :)

Recommended Posts

Merry Christmas and a very happy new year to all at SGL :)

As usual I am on your collective case for advice. I will soon have a budget of ~2.5k for a complete "last you five years at least" (the wife) visual observing and basic imaging set-up.

I have to get this right first time and I need your collective experience with regard to right choices, viable alternatives and especially, obvious things I am missing.

Portability is not really an issue

This is what I have in mind and will be ordering from First Light Optics. Even my very limited experience in this field has found FLO to be very competitive price wise

NEQ6 Mount

SW 250PDS Newt

SW Equinox 80 APO

SW ST80 Guide camera

SW Synguider Autoguider + power supply

Revelation Photo-visual eyepiece kit

SW Coma corrector

Bahtinov mask

WO 2" Diagonal

T ring for Canon 1100d SLR (camera already purchased)

2" T adapter

Laser collimator

Celestron 10x50 Bino's

Warm clothing and camping gear on tap

I will not be stepping into this field gingerly. I am going to buy this equipment and dive into this head first without looking back. I am completely confident in my lack of ability but massive enthusiasm :)

As always, huge thanks for your guidance and advice

Dave :D
