Flaming Star & Horsehead

Here's an image from a couple of nights ago with my new Canon 1100D, not quite first light but close.

10 lights and 5 darks at ISO 1600.

On reflection a lower ISO setting and longer exposures would have been better.

lovely image nice and crisp with great colour. I have been itching to get out there again but my god have I got man flue at the moment ahhhh choooooooooo!

That's looking really nice. What length subs did you use?

Oh, btw, not nitpicking but the nebula next to Alnitak is the flame nebula. The flaming star nebula is something different... though can't recall where it is :-)

Someone really should do a list of deepsky targets by name rather than numbers from several obscure catalogs :-)
