M42 with a Samsung video camera

Hi all

After my recent attempt at this target with moderate success I decided to try a different approach.

As I have a lot of 'slop' in my focuser I spent over an hour tonight getting as near perfect focus as I could on a small star.

Once this had been accomplished I locked off the focuser removed the camera and recollomated my scope to the fixed focuser position.

I then put the camera back and took this 1000 frame AVI.

I have run the AVI through rexistax 5 just to see what I had managed to capture.

I have just finished converting all the AVI frames into bitmaps and have put them into DSS which I will leave running overnight to process.

This is the jpeg version and for some reason it looks very grainy on here. The tif version is a lot better.

Graham... can you e-mail me over the Tiff version? Would be fin to have a play with it... see what else is in there!

Looks pretty good though for, what I assume were, very short exposures/frames from the camera?
