M42 through Watec and tired eyes

on call this evening so it was going to be a visual-only night, despite the moon. However, maybe because of the moon, i used the opportunity to have a go with a new Watec; quite surprised at the amount of inward focus travel required.

The avi is only 30 seconds worth and has been stacked and (very) quickly processed in Registax6; not got time or inclination to play further but at least it is an image for comments,

A.

Personally I find M42 looks much better if you just blow out the trapezium and go for the wispy areas of nebulosity at the edges.

Set the integration time to SLOW no. 9 on the Watec and adjust the gain accordingly. The central area will wash out to featureless white, but the nebulous area will look stunning.
