I was similar to yourself in that I made my own 6" reflector at school and used it in the early 80's. I then (job and women) had a sabatical for 17 years until purchasing a 4" Tal refractor which i still use. I have other scopes now but for lunar and planetry work the refractor is great. Also for brighter DSO's its fine and double star's are fun with it as well. Therefore I would suspect that the Evostar 90 will provide similar service to you.

Good luck and treat the children to Saturn, it usually does the trick in converting new astronomers!!

Warm welcome to SGL, sounds like a typical journey here!. But now expect apperture fever to kick in as well. The 90mm will be an excellent scope to start re-acquainting yourself with the sky!
