Squeaky focusser

Recommended Posts

I've had my Skyliner 200p for a few weeks now and when I went out this evening I noticed that the focusser has developed a bit of a squeak. I'm thinking a bit of lubrication is needed but am wondering what would be the best stuff to use. I'm thinking maybe a little silicon grease.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

One of the founding members of our club has a truss-based Alt-Az scope he calls "Olde Bones". It squeeks very loudly, every time he moves it from one object to another. He is completely dis-assembling it, and treating all the moving and sliding parts with white lithium grease. Sure can't hurt, as long as the stuff is used minimally !

We're all gonna miss that "squeeeeek" though !
