PHD log won't load into Eqmod pecprep

Recommended Posts

Im struggling with a head scratcher and would welcome any advice.

I started logging in the OSX version of PHD after calibration and once the guiding got into its stride. The text file starts with the text ' logging manually enabled', comma delimited numbers and a new line for each step. The file however refuses to load into pecprep, saying their is no data. Do I have to modify the text file in any way to make it compatible?

Is it because I'm using two OS's?

Regards Chris

Thanks Chris, it won't be a for a few days, since I'm writing this on an iPad as some scumbag has stolen electrical cable from my telephone exchange, making the whole town an Internet and phone free zone!

Chris,

You say that the file begins with "logging manually enabled" followed by the data - Did you turn on logging mid guiding session by any chance?

Below is an example of what I would expect to see at the start of PHD log file

PHD Guide 1.12.0 -- 4/2/2011 2:05:17 AM

Guiding begun

lock 389.7 276.8, star 389.7 276.8, Min Motion 0.50

RA angle 2.42, rate 0.0006, aggr 0.90, hyst=0.05

DEC angle 0.91, rate 0.0007, Dec mode 1, Algo 0, slopewt = 5.00

Frame,Time,dx,dy,Theta,RADuration,RADistance,DECDuration,DECDistance,StarMass

1,0.219,0.18,0.96,1.4,0.0,0.48,0.0,0.87,1545565.60

2,0.498,-0.25,0.80,1.9,1000.0,0.70,0.0,0.48,1586713.43

3,0.775,0.37,0.68,1.1,0.0,0.20,0.0,0.77,1514059.09

It is important that the log file has all the header data and so logging must be enabled prior to starting guiding.

If your log file looks ok then one you could try loading it into wordpad (not notepad) and then saving it again (I seem to recall this fixes any problems with lines not containing carriage returns).

Chris.
