6mm eyepiece?

My mother in law has ordered A GSO eyepiece set for me for Xmas this contains 9mm, 15mm, 20mm & 32mm Super Plossl's, plus various filters.

In your humble opinions is it worth me also getting a 6mm to add to the set or is it too much for my scope? bearing in mind that the Skywatcher Barlow is not great so would rather not use it.

Or would a better quality Barlow make more sense?

I'd be tempted to buy a better barlow as this will work well with the eypieces in the set. a 6mm plossl would have very tight eye relief.

I'm with Moonshane, 6mm is also pushing the max mag of the scope, viewing will be dark and exit pupil would be small. I you get a decent barlow then you will achieve 7.5mm from te 15mm ep maintaining better eye relief.

I have not used the gso barlow so perhaps someone can chip in on that one.

not sure about the barlow either but should be decent. seems a lot more than you'd pay for a good used one. I'd expect a good used one for maybe £20 or so?

Thanks, yes that does make more sense to get a better quality barlow when I think about it.

I hate having to do this on a tight budget but the wife, kids and now a new puppy doesn't help lol.

A win on the lottery would make such a difference!!!
