Damo636
I have been fighting a battle with dew on and off for the last 12 months with my refractor. I finally took the plunge and ordered up a Dew-Not heat strap from Modern Astronomy last week. I had tried various alternative methods including an 18'' long camping mat extension to the dew shield but eventually, especially when viewing high in the sky things started to get foggy. All i can say is these things are a revelation! I was out last night for over 4 hours and while 3/4 of the ota was dewed up badly after an hour the entire dew shield (i wrapped it around the dew shield just over the objective lens) and objective were completely dry and dew free. What a great product
MjrTom
Yeah I know how you feel I had been fighting with dew myself with my refractors and after many sessions cut short I bought two dew strips one each for my 3 inch and 4 inch scopes. As I tend not to use both scopes together the spare dew strip is wrapped around my RDF or 9x50 finder.A world of difference. I have had an occasion last week where the dew was running off the OTA but the optics were dew free.Just need to remember to keep charging my powerpack up, as I dont use a powered mount I dont usually need portable power.
