Programmable Remote Release for Nikon D3100

I would like to be able to program long exposures with my D3100, in the way that (as far as I can tell) the MC-36 Remote allows you to do: Tell it to "take twenty 5 minute exposures with a 60s delay in between each" for instance.

That cable is not compatible with my camera (the D3100), so if I was wondering if any of you knew of one that was, or an alternate method to achieve the same result. The MC-DC2 allows remote release, but only while holding down the button, which of course is not exactly what I am looking for.
