Mount Suggestions

[BEYOND EARTH]

I been comparing mounts that are good for astrophotography and don't break the bank. I only have around $800 for a mount and came across the Celestron CG-5 and the Meade LX80 Multi-Mount. Which would be better and if you know of any other mounts for around the same price I would love to know.

Most consider HEQ5 better for astrophotography than CG5. I'm not too sure about the availability and price in the USA, but FLO is selling HEQ5 GOTO for £750 in the UK. This usually translate to $750 in the US.

LX80 is a nice concept, but it's too new. You will be taking a big risk to be one of the first to own one. Furthermore, you may not get the same level of after market software support as CG5 and HEQ5.

Personally I'd rank HEQ5> CG5> LX80

An astrophotography mount that doesn't break the bank has yet to be invented...

I hope to have one of the Meade LX80 mounts in the next month and will post my impressions as soon as possible.
