Day time guide cam testing....

Recommended Posts

Iam trying to do some day time tests wanting to figure out the right place to put my guide cam to get it parfocal with my camera (FWIW we are talking about Starlight Xpress Costar, TS OAG, Meade 5000 80mm apo + focal reducer, Canon 1000d, PHD guiding software) and just need to know what sort of exposure time and gain should I be using to try and get a day time image on the Costar when connected to the OAG and the scope while the DSLR is focussing on a land target. Currently I can't get a recognisable image on the Costar. Or is it best to do this at night on a star/land based light anyway because it can only really pick up stars/bright objects?

TIA for any input
