Balancing RGB with a DBK

Recommended Posts

By the time Mars climbed for a first shot at it with the new camera I wound up with this result (plus another one I took with a lower barlow power).

I gather the rule of thumb for setting up the RGB is to have all 3 of them equal and as close to the end of the histogram as possible without going over. That worked fine with Jupiter but it was very hard to get that histogram display on Mars and I needed a lot of gain to pull it off, and even then the colour just looked wrong - more blue or something. So... I wound up just going with a "whatever looks acceptable in the live view" approach.

Now I'm sure I'm doing something wrong as I've got a better Mars than that with an SPC800.
