Would like to ask if anyone know's if a Skywatcher EQ5 Deluxe Mount can be turned in to a GOTO mount and is it possible to use Synscan on this mount. Thanks

I saw this EQ5 DELUXE MOUNT in FLO and would like to be able to use it as a GOTO with Synscan soon when I get it!

Yes the EQ5 can be upgraded to full goto for about £300.

To be honest you'll save money buying the EQ5 pro goto with the motors already fitted then buying the mount and motors separately

EQ5 pro goto mount - £486

EQ5 mount £229 + Goto upgrade £290 = £519

And yes it makes a nice platform for a 127MAK

Mine came with a polarscope fitted. As for being needed, if you want to get decent tracking, especially for any astro-photography then yes they are a good aid to achieve that.
