MEADE 14mm SERIES 4000 UWA FIRST LIGHT

i recently had chance to try out a newly acquired meade 4000 14mm uwa japan.

these eyepieces are now difficult to find and a bit iconic as far as meade eyepieces go.

i managed an hour on saturn. and at x142 the image in my c8 xlt showed the sharpest cassini i have seen for years.

razor sharp, pretty well all the way round, looked like someone had drawn it with a fine mapping pen!

similar with the eq belt and polar hood.

i also put in the antares 1.6x 2 inch barlow and again, exactly the same, no image degrade.

unfortunately i discovered some undisclosed cosmetic issues with this particular eyepiece, but have managed to acquire another mint one and the 8.8mm from usa.

really, if you get the chance to buy one, dont miss it, they are superb!
