Telescope simulation in Stellarium?

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I have Stellarium v0.11.0 and was wondering if there's a way to get it to show me a simulated view of what I'd see of the night sky looking through a specific telescope? I'd like to set it up so that it simulates my Celestron NexStar 4SE if poss.

Any help welcome!

Baz

Hi Alan, thanks for the fast reply. Do you know if there's a way for me to select a specific EP? For example if I wanted to simulate looking at Jupiter through a 25mm Plossl. Also, when I'm in the Ocular view, the data shown in the top-right corner of the screen shows 'Telescope #0 C1400' and a magnification value - is there a way to change these?

Cheers

Baz

Do a search for the Occular Plugin on the stellarium wiki page.

You can set up your scope and eye pieces and then simulate them so you can see what will fit into a FOV for a given EP. Then, as Alan says, you can flip the view to get a true representation.
