The average seeing 3" star image (well here in Belgium!) is 40 micron in size with the C11 at f10, for good sampling then the pixel size would be around 15-18 micron (x2 binning).

Longer focal lengths, ratios are much better at picking up and building star images ( short fast stuff is perfect for extended objects..)

So, if the smallest star image will be 40 micron then it does cut some slack when it comes to centroid guiding with a 5.4 micron guider.

Yes, I agree, there's NO way I'd go back to the OAG with a x3 barlow and 12mm illuminated eyepiece....things are so much easier nowadays -thankfully!!

(I honestly never have much issues holding a star image on a slit in the spectroscope...)
