Focusing at 10mm

Star Gazer

Recommended Posts

I'm using BackyardEOS with my 7D fitted with my 10-22mm lens and find it very hard to focus. No, not very hard, impossible.

The problem is live view on the camera and in BackyardEOS does not show any stars at such a short focal length.

Obviously with this focal length I'm trying to get a nice wide view of the Milky Way.

Does anyone have any tips on how to get focus. Here is my attempt a couple of nights ago

This image is straight out of the camera (raw converted in ps), you can see some of the stars are light doughnuts.
