Newbies - field of view calculator site

Newbies, like me, have some high expectations when we get our first scope. I was very excited the first time I saw Saturn and yesterday I saw Jupiter in all its glory.

When I started searching for deep sky objects, I was disappointed. I know now, from alot of helpful people on this site, that my expectations were way high.

I used the D-string site, and its pretty cool how it will show you what you may see in your eyepiece, but to all other newbies out there, what you see online may not be what you get in your eyepiece.

I wish you all good experiences searching the night skies for all the treasures out there; don't get frustrated and disappointed because its not exactly picture perfect or clear.

Nice find, though in the beginning I really learned to love Stellarium, as it also simulates eyepieces and demonstrates how fast objects will leave the field of view :-) All it lacks is a bit of a brightness correction depending on the aperture.

Have you seen this one by the way?

Sternfreunde Münster - Okularrechner/Teleskoprechner, Auswahl von über 400 Okularen

I know it's german, but it should be easy to figure out (even though the eye-piece selection is a bit complex).

Also for mobiles http://www.sternfreunde-muenster.de/mobile/orechner.php
