Mount parking position..

My observatory (rustic shelter / shed like arrangement) again has a roof (that hopefully won't blow off this time)

With the observing hatch in place there is no longer room for the mount / scope to park in the traditional straight up polar aligned like manner. (Unless I remove the scope.)

Do you think it would be OK the park the mount so the scope and counterweight bar are horizontal to the floor? Will this put additional stress on the mount?

Shouild be fine in any "parked" position as long as it is reasonably well balanced.

The chap with the micro-obsy on here (forget his name - apologies whoever you are!) has his parked that way to give a smaller profile for the tiny obsy. Seems to work for him so why not?

Absolutely no probs as if said it is balanced close. I do it all the time. Also helps to prevent moisture entering via gravity.
