"home position" why do we do it?

Recommended Posts

As the title says, why do we set up a home postion for the scope? is it a good start for the GOTO handset to learn the sky when doing alignment?

Just thought i'd ask, always good to understand why you do these things instead of doing it because it says so.

Also how do you tell the GOTO handset it's in the home postion?

Do you set it to home when setting up the mount/scope? (i was going to), and then i understand you turn on the handset set it to home turn off then on again,

do you do this before alignment or after?, if after wont you lose all the info you have inputted? date, time, location etc.
