Inspired by John Hothersall's excellent recent image posted here recently I thought I would give it a go myself.

It needs lots more data so I plan to add to it as soon as we get clear skies.

This image is only 80min Ha:Oiii:Sii 50:15:15

Taken with f5 newt (8 inch) Atik 314L

I love this, good job.

One thing has always puzzled me with The Eagle Nebula though. I can see the Running Man in Running man neb etc etc but where is exactly is the Eagle?

I’m sure its obvious once you know what to look at.

Very nice Paul, really good definition on the pillars.

You need to look at a wider field view of it, although I personally think it's a bit more bat-shaped than eagle!

Well thats very colourful indeed, glad you gave it a go as it seems to show the best colour contrast of any nebula with beautiful blues and oranges with a little purple too. Columns look good and strong. From Oz its right overhead although jet stream does affect seeing at this time of the year. I would brighten the outer parts of the image as you picked up a lot of O3 and S2 for so little time.

The Eagle I think is repesented by the main bright columns forming the beak of the raptor.

John.

Thanks all for the comments. The eagle is best seen on a wider view. You havebto consider outer nebulous region and you get to see that it is the Eagles wings. The pillars are actually eagles claws.

Love this nebula in Narrowband as in RGB it can be difficult to balance h colours!

Certainly looks better without the red stars but on my screen it seems to have lost a little definition.

A combination of the two with a colour tweak and a bit of sharpening perhaps......... then again it's all in the eye of the beholder I suppose.

That's a nice version CW! You brought out even more detail!
