Fitting right angle finder to an LB

Recommended Posts

Thinking of buying a right angled focuser to fit onto my Lightbridge as the stock RDF one is not the most comfortable/practical to use.

How would I fit it to my LB? are the brackets fitted with bolts so a couple of extra holes to drill? Looking at the photos of the Orion 9x50 the bracket foot looks very similar to the RDF foot.

Thanks

Steve

Hi Steve, if you wish to fit right angle finder in addition to the RDF, then you would

need to drill holes to take the extra shoe. Double sided tape ( which is ok for much lighter finders ) would not be adequate.

You may well find that the new finder would

fit the existing shoe for the RDF ( sometimes a bit of filing or packing is needed ) but

many users of right angle finders use a RDF or Telrad as well.

If you have a right angle finder only, it is a bit difficult to find the general area of sky

before homing in on your target, and thats where the RDF is useful.

HTH, Ed.
