What do you suggest for a first attempt at imaging?

Recommended Posts

I have just received the required adaptors and fittings to attach my DSLR to my CPC925 telescope. What object would you recommend I try to image for my first time? Ideally it would be something something nice, easy and satisfying to image.

I'd like to try a nebula as they look awesome :-) What's a decent nebula out at the moment?

Cheers

You will have a small field in the long focal length of your SCT. To see what will fit on your chip look at this for modelling focal lengths and chip sizes:

Are you shooting at native F10 or with an F6.3 reducer? F10 is terribly slow for nebulae so I would try M13 as above, but the Ring would indeed be another good one.

Are you planning to autoguide?
