goto leveling

hi everyone,

I have a question about leveling my meade telescope. I have a ds2102 and i have to put the level in the eyepiece holder and then level the scope. My question is do I have to make sure the bubble is in the center all the way around when I turn the telescope or just when i level north. Any suggestions on the best way of leveling, is it just a case of adjusting the tripod legs.

I have one of these spirit levels http://www.handtools-china.com/images/SpiritLevel_7002.jpg to help me set tripod. Although you don't want a very long one, I use a short spirit level which is about 8 inch long.

I would think you would need to level the tripod first and then level the scope pointing north. That way, it should still be level in which ever direction it points.

I agree with Demonperformer, that's the best way.

Level the scope and point north. use Polaris
