M51 Supernova still burning brightly.

Recommended Posts

I deleted all my previous M51 subs from my 200mm camera lens the day I got the SW Equinox 66 (they were a bit rubbish). And kaboom.. the supernova happened the very next day. :)

Last night was my first chance to have a go at it. Seeing was on/off between the clouds so I just left the camera snapping away.

The supernova in the upper-left spiral arm is still exceptionally bright. Hopefully the clouds hold off tonight.

I've added some more subs to my previous ones from the other night.

I think under normal conditions I'm almost reaching the noise / magnitude limit with this one and could probably do with some much darker skies to smooth out the faint clouds.

Still very happy for what is my first "proper" attempt at a galaxy image. :)
