GPS and HBX port

Apparently my mount (Ioptron) will take a GPS) in its HBX port Id first thought about trying to use a PC based GPS but since then Iv come across a couple of old GPS units that fitted a Dell PDA and they are wired terminating into a PS/2 plug. Iv been on the net and found the wiring diagram So know what wire does what. Iv also got the Ioptron HBX wiring layout. What i wanted to know is if anyone has ever done this before That is used a normal wired GPS unit and replaced the plug so it can fit into the mount of a goto telescope?
