Improving the TS/GSO/Altair 8" F4 Photo-Newt

Recommended Posts

I "deck myself with borrowed plumes", but while I remember:

Telescope Reviews: 8" F4 AT Newt. Break Down

shows some useful information, before I start (un)screwing... :p

In retrospect, I sense one first mistake was to "re-centralise" the secondary, relative to the OTA. But not entirely sure... With a fast Newt, the geometric centre may not be the optical one? But at least it looks to be setting (holding) collimation. ;)

Note to self: I still want to find out HOW the primary mirror adjuster screws work. Is there any danger of them bearing against the rear of the mirror. Hoping not to hear the "crack" of glass... :D
