I was looking for an accurate time piece for the Obs and spotted this one in Argos. LCD Clock

It's mains or battery powered, the display is red (actually orange in real life) for the main display with blue and green for date/alarm. Being lcd it doesn't shine out too brightly and doesn't spoil your night vision. Importantly it shows the seconds and is radio controlled so very accurate.
