Saturn with 20" DK (19-20/04/11)

Greetings all!

Here are two drawings I made with the University of Leicester's 20" Dall-Kirkham telescope. Seeing was never any better than average alas, but I did manage to collect two disk drawings.

Fantastic sketching, a big difference from the 8 inch (obviously).

Imagine the view through 20DK on a vgood night of seeing, great sketch and storm structure coming through, banding across disc strong too.

Great sketch Paul I love the proportions, contrast and how you've managed to sketch those subtle tones of the body Saturn. Wish I could draw like this!

Just a quick question..

I live in Leicester and am curious to know of how you can get access to this scope? I noticed theres a few open days for the public to be have access to it (but only a few times a year), is there any other ways?

Hi Karlos,

You only get access to the scope if you're a member of staff in the Physics Department like me :-D We do do open days but these are for other members of staff at the University as far as I know.
