Hi all been use in this great company for a couple a months now they are great guys up in Manchester, they give discounts on items big all small i got a uhc filter 2 " they knocked 1.22 pence of the price they do it on all items you buy from them
the shop its self is great ,they have plenty of stuff on stock and when we went up before we had even spoke about spending any money they offered tea or coffee and a chat
they have a great track record and there customer service is direct ,
there postal service is next day service on big and small items and they do not argue when you want a refund or are not happy in fact i would say they go the extra mile with discounts and customer service and follow up calls if they could for some reason post the same day
great guys, great kit ,fast delivery prices are the same as every one else but they "do offer discounts " which makes the diference whn spending huge amounts i spent 3 grand with them i got what i wanted for 2,567 pound a massive saving

Rother valley Optics
hi all been up to the shop and wow wee it was like an Aladdins cave full of jewels a massive selection on display of eye pieces telescopes binoculars, mounts adapters focusers, to much to much to list filters i took a few pics the link is below if you wish to look around the shop,
Adam was the guy we dealt with and he was happy to chat with us and new about all the kit in the shop they had,the binocular side was minding blowing ,they look small in the pic ,they where massive and weighed a ton.
the prices were about average a few high end bits of gear where a few quid cheaper and he new is stuff and seemed helpful ,and agreed to me write in about it and take in the pics for my blogs, here and other blogs the other good thing its a direct call to the shop floor when we rang to see if they where open on Wednesdays ,and yes they are was the answer so of we went there service at the counter was second to none and very polite and professional,i did have the cheek to ask him if the internet side got the same treatment ,and he said they have a couple a guys that work with that on the premises we seen one of them discussing eps with some one on the phone he had the ep in his hand talking to the guy on the phone
great shop and great service:hello2:

Took my time but I eventually got round to flashing the cam today. Worked like a dream
Cheers Russ.
hi there you should take a look at
flash it with the non raw color ,it makes a big difference the color on Jupiter is a bit cleaner with my spc900 and if you do not like it just use the same software to flash it back and you only have to klik on one and away you go its fool proof as well please do not take that the wrong way.
the raw modes are wicked as well i have two Phillips webcams
1,color non raw mode special factory settings
2,raw mode black and white
now these Phillips webs cams do process the image for you that may be the dif between a good and bad pic some times try all the modes
it depends how you like you images raw file wise have a look
i may even pop a vid on you tube at some point to show the modes
before some says it makes no dif because rgb filters

RAW is much better for this, you can use jpg, but the results will not be as good. If you install the Canon Zoombrowser EX you can use that to view the images this is what I use... or have a look at
thats a great quick view thanks

Epic thread, loved reading it!
I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on this from Morgans, but does anybody know of anywhere I could send it to get the LX and Amp Mod done if I want to go that route in the future? (My soldering skills are worse than dire.)
I was looking at Dion's modded SPC900 on eBay but there's no way I'll be able to slide a £100 single payment past the wife!
nothing wrong with the 10d have had some good results 2"adapter and a 2"barlow not modded but still works

been here while but i learn something new everyday via sgl, and if am not sure about some thing,i can pop it on sgl and with in a short space of time i would have 10/20 answers to my problem i would love the mods to have a sgl youtube channel with video on how to set things up eqs ect andhow to use sofware like dss and registax ,yes yes i no theres a million videos out there but would be great if we had a one stop shop so every one could view because its ok some times reading a answer to a problem doing it is another,a video would be great

Best Shops - online and in store?
in Getting Started General Help and Advice

I would say the one that answers the phone ,so many do not ,like your self ,every one as been there ,wants to no who is the best
well most are brill they all offer the same service ,customer service is hit and miss with some of them,
get on the phone give a few places a ring ,you will find that you will klik with one of the shops or websites and away you go .i would not go as far as to say use this shop or that shop as you may not get the same service as i did ,but give them a ring they will all happily advise you what you may need
tell them your budget and your needs for the scope ,do you just want to look at things ? Whats your main interests ,once you can answer these to your self write a check list of things you want to say say And give a ring round
Flo,365 astronomy,opticstar,skys the limit
they have all been good for me in the past they all have fast delivery times ,if the item is in stock most delivered with in 1/2 days, they all offer good customer service
am sure you will klik with one of these shops ,its like saying which shop do you goto every day for you bread and milk
