I use a Canon SL1, still single images.

Some turn out good, others dont. My biggest issue is still getting a good focus. What I see is not always what I get in the image.

Wouldn't it be incredible to get an actual sample of that material to know exactly what it consists of?

I know first light is the first time you view with your kit. Well, been using mine for some time.

So I'm declaring it first power. I put power to my new mount and did the basic setup in daylight.

Watching the scope slew at the push of a button was magical!

I never realized there was that much there in the area!

Excellent! I love the look on someone's face when you tell them just how fast Jupiter rotates!

I had a Canon camera set up for widefield meteors and it got rained on. You could see water in the lens.

I took the lens off the camera and put both in a plastic container with a lid that snapped tight.

Then put a container of "damp rid" you use to get rid of moisture in a cabinet or closet.

Worked like a charm.  Still using the camera and lens.

But being one strong in the force,  I caution you about delving into both the dark side of astronomy and the force itself.

The universe is nothing compared to the dark side of the force!

Am I correct in thinking from the phase Venus is showing it is near maximum elongation?

Two evenings ago it was very beautiful in the twilight sky.

I've used a cover for daytime solar just to make it easier at the eyepiece.

I viewed this area for a few moments yesterday and was totally amazed at how crisp and clear it was.

The rims of the two smaller craters inside the larger one were standing out like the LED rings you see on many new autos was really a great example of how the terminator plays with the heights and depths of these craters!

Unless you turn your telescope towards Luna every chance you can, you'll never realize it's not, just the moon!

With my 4am work schedule I get up at 2am three days a week.

Makes it perfect for regular viewing sessions on my days off.

But now the solar system has turned and the gas giants along with Venus are wonderful evening targets.

The moon was also very clear!

Going to take a little time to reboot my gray matter to stay up past my bedtime.

This evening was nice though I am ready to crash.

Or like Klingons!

The more you image Jupiter the better you'll get.

One night everything will fall into place. 

I always try to not worry about all the other excellent images on here, though I do like seeing them, and concentrate on my own game.👍

Yes those are excellent images! I've never managed that much colour with the ringed planet!

After an extended period of clouds for me, I got out and just sat viewing the area of Mare Imbrium. 

Watching as the shadow line in some of the deeper craters moved from the rim down into the depths was quite interesting!

I couldn't help but try and imagine the impact that caused the Mare, possibly being at a slight angle, to cause the high mountains to one side while the molten material flowed out on the opposite side.

With it's different looking craters, then the incredible mountains, this is one of my favorite areas to view!

I have to admit I might be pushing a month!

I ordered a mount and our weather went sour.

We've had at least 15 inches of rain and continuous cloudy skies.

Went out to make sure no wasp would be surprising me and found a dirt dauber (mud wasp) had built a nest in my 8" OTA.

You have any of them over on that side of the pond.

Luckily, no wasps!
