  1. Thanks for replying Dave Yes latest drivers all downloaded on Windows. The ASI2600MM is recognised fine in SharpCap. Separate download of drivers is not normally required in OS X.
  2. I have recently taken delivery of my ASI2600MM camera. I have tried connecting it to Nebulosity v4 software but the camera is unrecognised. I have checked I am running the most up to date version of the programme. I have also tried in Windows and OS X but no joy in either. Has anyone else encountered this issue? Thanks.
  3. You are very kind - I am pleased you have enjoyed it.
  4. Thanks for this tip. I will look into that option.
  5. Thanks Mike I have just checked the specs for the canon 300mm f2.8 and it has 9 blades. It's a bit difficult to count them but it looks plausible that there are 18 spikes there. Thanks for that information. I just checked out your website link - some great Ha work there!
  6. Thanks Mike - I appreciate your comments. Yes, I had noticed that diffraction pattern and I don't know where it has come from. I had stopped the lens down from f2.8 to f4, I wonder if that might have contributed? I guess it could be the filter as you suggest - do you know if the Optolong L-eNhance has been known to cause this before? I think I will need to do some experimenting when I can next see a bright star in the sky!
  7. Hi - I am a complete newbie to this hobby but ... I am using an ASIAIR Pro and have used the guiding facility. I understand that it basically uses PHD2 software under the bonnet but does not expose all of the parameters to the user. I have found it works well - I'm sure if you're a real control freak that you would pine for all the flexibilities that the full PHD2 gives, but for me, at this stage of my learning curve, the ASIAIR is great. If you download the manual for the ASIAIR from the ZWO website you can check out the guiding section - the manual is very superficial but will give you an idea of what is available. You can dither (mentioned in the guide camera section of the manual rather than the guiding section).
  8. Hi All I am very new to this hobby and feeling my way and learning loads. I took delivery of my EQ6R-Pro on Thursday evening (I have been struggling with a Nexstar 8SE mount to date!). As Thursday was the last forecast night of clear skies for some time to come I quickly unpacked and set up the mount and attached my rig (Canon 300mm f2.8 lens, ASI533MC, ASI120MM, ZWO Mini Guidescope, ASIAIR Pro). After fumbling my way through working out the ins and outs of the new mount I managed to grab a couple of hours of 300s subs on the Gamma Cygni Nebula using an Optolong L-eNhance filter. I was completely blown away by the tracking performance of the EQ6R-Pro (particularly after having been using the Nexstar). This is the resulting image that I have processed in Pixinsight. I would really welcome any constructive criticism to help me learn for the future. I am aware that Sadr has a very significant halo. I actually quite like this as it adds some drama to one of the key focal points of the image but would welcome views. I am not sure how I would reduce it if I wanted to - my Pixinsight skills are not there yet! I am also aware that I have sharpened the image a little more than some might. Again, I like the effect but would welcome comments. Thank you for looking and reading.
  9. Thanks - looks like this is the way to go. I appreciate your help and advice.
  10. Thanks for these really helpful thoughts. I am thinking of investing in the Nevada PSW-30 25-30A Switch-Mode Power Supply which gives a cigarette socket on the front. I would then attach the Lynx Astro Silicone Female Cigarette Socket to M8 Ring Tongue to the binding posts on the back (red to red, black to black - thanks for that warning!) That would give me two cigarette sockets. I would use one to power the mount and the other to power my ASIAIR which would in turn power the camera, dew heaters and focuser. That feels like a fairly robust set up.
  11. Hi. Thanks for taking the time to reply. Obvious really now you say it. That spec is 11v up to 16v. Thanks
  12. I am patiently awaiting delivery of my new EQ6R Pro mount. Reading through the specs it states under power requirements: DC11 - 16V 4A, but the supplied power cable is a 12V DC Cigarette Power Cable. Can anyone shed any light on this apparent discrepancy? Does it require 16V? Many thanks for any help.
