Hi Guys
Is it OK to use a SW 120 ED Pro with a Daystar Quark H Alpha
The 120 has a F/number of F/7.5
I have done it with a 80ED and Quark and a Baader Continuum Filter before but is the 120 going to be OK.
regards
Pat

In that Celestron lens kit there is a Barlow lens. Its the one in the top right of the picture, If you unscrew the lens on that you can then use the tube as an extension.
Don't wait for darkness. try getting focus on a distant object in daylight, much less frustrating.

Hi Karl and welcome.
We have meetings at Blaenavon, up by the masts at Hunters Graveyard, I expect they will be starting again in September once the nights get a bit darker.

Welcome Darren. We have regular meetings at Blaenavon, and if you watch the section on Meetings you will see there is a meeting planned for tonight. Mike will give the go-ahead later. Just turn up there are no restictions.

There are basically 3 parts to the mount.
1st part is fixed onto the Tripod. This is the part that is polar aligned using the RA and Dec screws. Once this is aligned it does not move.
2nd and 3rd parts are the RA and DEC axis which move separately allowing the scope to move to any location without upsetting polar alignment.

Will be the seeing and depending on what time you was observing Mars is still low for any decent viewing, Also don't try to over Power the Dob, sometimes a lower magnification will get better results than higher, so I would not go much below a 10m EP to see it,
Another point is the longer you look at it, the more your eyes will see over time.
Mars is a tough one to observe but the dob should do a good job of it
