  1. Fair point. I'm at f5.8 so I presume I'll need at least 3 times the exposure time...plus an allowance for the filter.
  2. Hi all. Tonight might be the last time, and only time this year for me to capture M42 Orion nebula. I'll probably only have two hours imaging time and I'm looking for advice on how to image this without blowing out the core! I'll be using an Altair Astro 183c CMOS camera with an IDAS NBZ (Duo Band) filter. I've seen Chucks Astrophotography video where he used only 5 second exposures for just 21 minutes and it worked well, but with the IDAS NBZ I'll probably need longer exposures. I don't want to waste my imaging session! Any ideas? Cheers
  3. Nice work! I didn't realize the rosette was so big. How are you finding the NBX? I just got it but only used it a few times.
  4. Excellent thanks! Yep its a GOTO mount, I just wont have an internet connection.
  5. Hi all, new to guiding and just got my first image using PHD2 and st-4...after a few issues it worked well, but have read that ASCOM is much better. I'm far away from a WIFI source....do I need WIFI for ASCOM guiding?
  6. There is a chance it could have....not sure if it did.
  7. Ok so I stacked again with no flats. Wiped the RAW file in Startools and got this:
  8. Stacked in DSS using recommended settings and processed in Startools, again with recommended settings
  9. Exactly that. AV and aimed at White screen on laptop.
  10. Dust doughnuts? Yes, calibrated with darks, flats and bias
  11. I think I've attached the file in .fts format. Is that any good? Autosave.fts
  12. Hi, first time posting here! The last two images I took had strange blue/grey rings on them. Not sure what's caused them. I'm using a Canon 1100d with an Evostar 72ed with a lens warmer. Wondered if the sensor needed cleaning? Or if I shouldn't be using the warmer during Summer? These rings only come to light when processing after stacking. Was kind of hoping I'd discovered two black holes 😁 Any help appreciated!
