  1. Received my new Cem60, trier pier and i-polar this week. Initially I was a little disappointed to see that although the retailers site suggested that if I bought the mount and the i-polar together they would install it prior to delivery, it never happened and I received a small box containing the i-polar for me to fit. Well after plenty of reading and some deep breaths I managed it over some 2 hours of trying to decipher IKEA like instructions. 1st light with the mount was tonight and I read the manual at least 3 times and set everything up by the book, making sure to double check what I had done. Started i-polar and managed to get the cross hairs centered on the maroon spot. Set a zero point on the mount in the polarise position and began a 2 star alignment. I just wanted to make sure all was working well, so no astronomy tonight, just a field test. All the slews resulted in at least 15 degrees out, not even in the finder scope. Started again, same result. 5 times I went through the process over 2 hours and each time during alignment, the mount moved the scope to nowhere near the target. I'm a very frustrated old man. A few times the mount was slewing to target nice and quietly then suddenly started whining and grinding. I noticed that when I was locking up the saddle to engage the gear there is a point half way through where the plastic knob starts to tighten but it's nowhere near the end position and when it's backed off again it seems to click and then I can fully close it before backing off slightly to slew--- almost like its not engaging in the correct position. Can anybody help, as I'm not happy after spending this sort of money to effectively not be able to use it Many thanks Nick
  2. Main imaging scope will be a Skywatcher Equinox ED80 for the moment. Nice and lightweight for this mount I'm having fun trying to get the software for the I Polar scope to load onto my laptop before I install it in the mount. I don't think Win 7 likes it!!
  3. Received my new mount today. A lovely Cem60 standard with Pier mount and I-polar scope (yet to fit) I am a proud parent Looking forward to a first run
  4. I know I can't control the weather, but on reflection I may not be able to control the mount either!
  5. As is normal when someone invests is shiny new equipment, the weather turns! New Cem60 with pier mount and i-polar ordered from FLO yesterday So I am apologising for the impending bad weather everyone. Very excited and I hope it lives up to my expectations Nick
  6. Thanks, Im looking forward to contibuting at some stage in the future
  7. Just want to say hello to the community I was a member on here some years ago but due to various work and family committments my various hobbies waned into the background. I now find I am able to spend more time getting back into my astronomical forays and am looking to invest very shortly in a new mount and some bits and bobs. My old belt modded EQ6, although ok for visual work really isn't up to the task anymore (sadly) for any type of imaging and I have been seriously debating the expenditure of a CEM60 with pier tripod and i-polar, although now I see the CEM70 is due out soon possibly so not sure whether to hang on for new technology or stick with the tried and tested stuff. I have noticed that FLO is out of stock of CEM60's and wondering if it's because of the impending CEM70 I am looking forward to pulling the old Equinox ED80 out of its flight case and getting those photons captured for some DSO work and then the C9.25 for some planetary stuff, which I know the grandkids will love to see I am gradually reading nearly every post and topic and expanding my grey matter again... here comes a re-jig of the steep learning curve........Such Fun ! Nick
