Interesting, I've not heard of that one.
.
It might have been a C6 but was a small SCT rather than a Maksutov.

Personally, I always used the liveview on the back of the camera with a bahtinov mask, zoom in 10x and adjust the focus to suit on a very bright star.
Then connect the cable to the camera and use Nina to control the imaging session. Now I use an EAF, which takes longer, but is a bit more accurate and useful if focus changes mid session (ie due to temperatures).
That works too depending on which angle the scope is pointing and how many acrobats you need to do. Lol

I will post up some screen shots of Canon Utility that did some years ago BRB

Do you choose a bright star to focus on?
Lock your focus when you have done so you can then move to your chosen target.
if Nina is very noisy on live view (never used it). You could try focussing with canon utility (comes with the camera). That is what l use.
You can increase your ISO just to do focus.

I started out with this telescope (including the mount), and I recall having some good views with it, but the mount itself was a real PITA and the slow controls slipped so could never keep anything in the FOV (if I could find it in the first place). I would say you could mount it on another mount, preferably a sturdy tracking Equatorial mount.

Just when l was going to show your obsy off as part of my talk on Garden Observatories this month with local astro group. (You kindly sent me photos and a video). Your new build will not be ready in time.
l can definitely see why you need to do it though and look forward to seeing your progress. -
A few questions.
Are you in a LP location?
Are you just looking at the DSS result as that is always dark - needs processing to bring out the target.
I am no expert on colour cameras but have you selected the correct Bayer matrix for your camera?
Finally do you want to post up the stacked result on here for us to try to process. Preferably in TIFF format.
-
That is very impressive, especially if you zoom in which you can if using a phone.
-
Amazing. Where was this taken?

I use Teamviewer and have 2 laptops in the obsy. Indoors l have a 3rd laptop which will show both laptops in the obsy under different tabs. Just need to flick from one to the other.
l am not that technical so if l can get it to work it must be pretty straightforward.
Don’t know anything about headless PCs

PDS if you plan to image.

It is most important to me to know the Bortle scale of other locations seeing that l live in Bortle 8. If l want to travel to darker skies l need to know the Bortle scale so l know if it the right place to go.

It is hardly an effort to make one post per year to keep your membership active and keep this site safe.

from Grant's post QUOTE "we have banned a potential scammer using an old, unused members account to post potentially fake adverts"
Hadn’t realised that. Even worse. I agree with what Zermelo suggests. Remove access to lapsed members.
Hopefully the system can be set up to do that- 2

I wonder whether we should go back to the minimum 50 posts before having access to the For Sale board.
Or is it possible to buy after a few posts but not sell until 50 posts.
I suspect the latter is impossible.- 1

I guess one thing members can look out for is low post count and posting history content.
I have done that before when l looked at an ad of a member unknown to me to see if he had had actual astro discussions and that he was a genuine Astronomer and member before posting an advert.
