  1. No specific idea but a scroll through the txt file at the end implies problems with date and time, 2 odd years are given. A parse of the file indicates a Meade LX200 (GPS), is this correct. If so have you updated the firmware to account for the GPS Rollover bug. As that could account for the reports of errors in the date and time that the txt file appears to imply. You may have to enter the menu and disable the GPS and then enter the data yourself as a custom location, the at the Align stage you supply Date and Time the old fashioned way. That would hopefully allow you to get somewhere in the short term but new firmware would be required eventually. The Rollover caused the firmware to interpret the now new Week 0 incorrect. So the fix is firmware not GPS.
  2. Guessing your light pollution is bad since you give London as a location. I was out looking for the same target a few evenings back and having similar troubles. I could not easily pick out the square of Hercules. A check on Skysafari and what I realised was that if I took an imaginary line from Deneb to Vega and continued on then this line passed through the square of Hercules. I think that M13 is on the furthest side along this line. M13 is generally just visible in binoculars, although when I tried it was not easy. I am not entirely sure I picked it out, think I did however a littl;e questionable. Sky conditions likely contribute to easy or difficult. And light pollution will I expect only get worse.
  3. Joined the forum then was away for some weeks. 2nd post now I think, taken me long enough: Really seems a little pointless getting a goto and then using it manually. They were not designed for such usage. They can or some can be used manually, however it seems like making life a little difficult for oneself. Even in Manual the interpretation of Manual is you use the motors and bits to slew to a target. Scanning around the sky with one, as people will do with binoculars for example, is not really a feasible idea or action. And if you decide that you want to view say Jupiter, then M51, Globular in Hercules, just make life easy and use the goto. Where about are you, locating a club and collecting information and just seeing the equipment in action is usually a worthwhile idea. Was there also any particular goto that you were thinking of? I use a Skywatcher Az GTi and a 72mm ED on it. With Skysafari and with the Wifi it functions as a nice easy to use set of equipment. An aspect of observing often forgotten. The 2 saying are "Aperture is king" and also "Your best scope is the one you use the most". The AZ GTi and 72ED fall into the last catagory for myself. Little option really as they are my only ones.
  4. Maybe search out: 30 Second Quantum Theory, editor is given as Brian Clegg. Gives short background interpretations of the dieeferent aspects and background. No maths in it that I can see. Useful for just building up a background knowledge, overview or history.
