Saw three in the East in five minutes a while ago... now 95% cloud, and it looks set in for a while!

After an hour and a half I'd just about given up waiting!
I turned around and did some 'light painting' photos in a southerly direction, and then had a look back to the North... Oh my!!! ...fired up the camera and watched... my best ever from Suffolk.

Since I've 'got into astronomy' I've realised that I had bought the wrong house in the wrong place...

Visited Delabole quarry in the early '80's... a v. big hole!
Remember the skies were good.

It's 100 minutes up the A12 from the M25 when the road is clear... therefore normally much longer!!! ☹️

I've just thought of one quite local to me - the Herschel Museum of Astronomy, 19 New King Street, Bath. Fascinating place and Uranus was discovered from the garden 🙂
Bath Astronomers hold their meetings there.
A lovely visit; found it by chance on a trip to Bath a few years ago.

What month did you take these in? Judging by the position of the MW, I’d say later in the year?
I need to get back in May for another attempt.
September 17th 2017...
Single shots, 5D3, Canon 16-35mm set at 16mm, 30 seconds, ISO 1600/3200.

+1 for APT.

In Northern Norway I've seen the vibrant colours... In East Anglia (Suffolk) I've photographed the colours and seen nothing!

I like the replica Harrison H3 clock, I have an H5 on my keyring, a bit more portable.....
Thread drift (apologies if offended)... A Harrison clock keyring is so 'unhip' and 'yesteryear'...
A few years ago I purchased some of these for my sixth-form students so that they could become better acquainted with 'modern physics'...!!!

'Triggered' by the 'Stern-Gerlach' thread I've linked to the 'Bertozzi' experiment. When starting teaching relativistic effects I used to show this to the students... behind a few comments about gender, accents, and dress codes there was always admiration for attention to detail and rigour in this video, and a realisation of the meticulous nature of frontier science.

I believe that one of Bertozzi's daughters was awarded the Nobel prize for chemistry.
There are some interesting resources from this site.
