  1. this looks cheap and cheerful.... but is it rubbish.?????.. anyone got one ???? Newtonian Reflector Telescope Erecting Prism 1.25" 1.5x on eBay (end time 21-Jan-10 23:00:09 GMT) Thanks Dave
  2. I was trying to get the kids to try the scope, but as they are youngish and I want them in bed before it's too late I tried them during the day on my Skywatcher 130.... "Everything upside down dad"..... "how do you make it the right way up" they asked..... welll.... i've heard of,but not used one of the erecting prisms so dont know what to expect..... and.... anyone got one going cheap. Thanks Dave
  3. I Cant...... but..... HAPPY CHRISTMAS...... Someone will be along soon who can sort you out tho...
  4. Cornelius..... am i right about the co-ordinates...
  5. So.... just to check if im doing it correct..... Im Latitude 55.0103 Longtitude -1.446 Lat 55 Degrees 0.6 North Long 1 degree 26.7 West Does that goes as 55 0.6 N 1 26 W Thanks as usual...
  6. Yes....I was joking about the air rifle ....... they are dangerous and nasty,,,,, no one should play with guns....... However....a good catapult......hmmm now your talking......
  7. If the neighbours light is too much of a problem,,,,, get yourself a cheap air rifle.....take aim..... [snip]..... get the message ????
  8. Yep.... sounds good to me..... i'll snip the end off tonight.... a quick bit of tweaking.... and i'll soon have another lead but with screw in fixer.
  9. I've a Nikon D50 and wouldlove to have a try at taking pictures of whatever is up there,,, Everyone seems to be using Canon stuff but surely someone here must have a Nikon as well as me.... Firstly.... what it needed to conect to the scope.... Mines a Skywatcher 130 .... Im new with the scope too. Thanks in advance for all assistance
  10. Sorted it.... Stanley Knife blade over the cooker for a minute.... then take off about 3 mm of the black plastic covering..... tidy it up..... plug it in..... Brilliant.... best fit ever now.
  11. Steve - I dont want a refund.... I got great service - and the lead is something that one of the sparkies at work can sort out. Many Thanks and I will return.
  12. Mine didnt work.... but fantastic service by F.L.O. for getting it to me in break neck speed. The jack that plugs into the motor is a bit too short - it could do with about another 5 mm going into the motor section. I'm not really bothered cos I seem to have amassed a few leads now from various folk helping me out. I will sort this F.L.O. lead out tho cos it looks a nice quality lead and it won't take an awful lot to get it fitting nicely..... maplins here I come on thurs... Thanks again.... Delighted with the service.
  13. The plug that comes with the Skywatcher has a rotating thread that secures into the Goto Head, does the lead from FLO.... only a bit curious cos i've orderred one from them and hope it solves my problem. Also, the lead that is supplied with the Skywatcher is a good few mm longer than any others that I have tried... could it be the depth. Thanks Dave
  14. Is it sorted yet...... im running mine off the mains via a convertor.... the lead i have is a tad short so to get the connection...im having to hold it tight to the case....
  15. I've tried ringing them..... the answer machine loves me,lol
  16. Cables and Leads - SkyTron Power Supply Cable for Skywatcher & Celestron Mounts This looks to be the correct lead... Also..... do I now need 2 cool boxes.....
  17. I've got my loft done too..... and using the scope up there is a bit of a pain..... It's sort of OK if you just want to play "ooh there's a shiny star....let's have a close look at it..." but if you have a motorised set-up then it will be pointing itself at parts of the roof cos it will know where the stars are but not where the window is.. It's a great idea in principle.... but when i try to put it into practise... it's a bit all over the place...... I get my scope set up.....then choose M31.... and before I know it, the scope has rotated round and is pointing at the light fitting..... then choose another........ whirrrr and it's now pointing at the book case....... Have a go.......i'll give you half an hour and then you will be off to the garden..... see you there....cos thats where I am...... Dave
  18. My Skywatcher EXPLORER-130P SynScan™ AZ GOTO came with version 3.03. I'd like to bring it upto the latest version (even tho I don't know what the differences are).... The lead that came with it RS232 I believe..... There isnt a corresponding port on my pc...... my pc is relatively new..... stacks of usbs etc but nothing that will take this lead... Am I missing something..... How do I upgrade the handset... The instructions are not exactly the most comprehensive.... Many Thanks Dave
  19. Thanks again..... lots of invaluable information.... All very much appreciated.. Dave
  20. I'm quite new to this scene..... but is it a scope..... or an anti scud missile launcer.. If it's the latter.....I want one.....after all.... not long now till Nov 5th
  21. Thanks all.... Me thinks im off to get a battery this afternon..... then it was suggested to me about keeing it in a cool box.....then have an attacment that goes from battery to a car cig lighter...... then have the lead to scope from a car lighter end piece into the jack plug that fits into the scope....i could leave the battery in a cool box then......easier for humping it around too..... then its a case of quickly open lid...... plug in and go..... yippee... it's all coming clear now........... just wish the bl**dy sky was..... If this rule about...."every time you get a new scope -it goes cloudy for a fornight" is true.....then i only have 4 more days to wait..... I did see a star last nite,,, but by the time I got the scope out..... vamooose...... gone...... Im sick of looking at upside down trees during the day,lol Thanks again. Dave
  22. Can it overload it tho.... and burn it out.... What i'd really like is a 110 leisure battery - I go camping so it would get used there too.... and as soon as I mentioned "it's for camping".... the mrs fell for it and said yes (he he!!)..... now i know these are 12V.... but what about the 1 amp bit..... I'd hate to have the best battery on the campsite with a burned out scope. Thanks again
  23. Thanks everyone for all the help.... leisure batteries and power tanks look good.... all seem to be 12V but its the 1 amp bit that is stopping me from making the purchase.... Just incase it's of use to anyone..... B&M bargains currently have a powertank on sale at £24.99..... dare i buy one...... 1 amp........ 2 amp....... bl**dy hell.... still confused.....byt getting there. PS.... have emailed FLO for info ...... then its off to shops
  24. Come on you lot...... answer him..... Im the mate, lol....
