  2. Hi, i took the shot with my Canon 6D, it is one of the best out there for low light sensitivity. The lens is a Samyang F1.4 24 mm, wide open at ISO 3200, 20 sec single exposure. Taken on a standard photographic tripod.

    Mercury Transit with 140 children!

I took my CPC 1100 into my local village school, and with the help of my daughter we managed to get every single child (140 of them!) a glimpse of our star and tiny Mercury. Here are our first ever solar images.

Elclipse with the same £25 compact camera

I took these using the same method as my Moon album, just held the Panasonic Lumix as steady as possible to the 40mm eypiece which came with my CPC800. Also including a pic of Jupiter which i am thrilled about.
  7. From the album: Elclipse with the same £25 compact camera

Very pleased with my first attempt at planetary photography. I know its not the best photo but it goes to show that a dirt cheap secondhand compact can take an image of a planet. Also in the pic from left to right is Callisto, Europa and Io. the Great Red spot is just visible as a feint smudge. The image, whilst being tracked on my CPC 800 was moving all over the place on the camera display due to my hand movements so i was fortunate to get this shot.

    Eclipse 2015 008

From the album: Elclipse with the same £25 compact camera

Taken using my cheap compact camera held up to the 40mm eyepiece of my CPC 800. I used glass white light Solar filters on both the finder and main scope and also used a very steady hand!

Very early days in my astrophotograpy quest. I also took some decent photos of the eclipse using the same method. I will upload when i have a chance. Looking forward to upgrading to DSLR in the future, but really enjoying what i am doing now with this budget camera.
