Stu suggested that I repeat here my initial post from the thread I started today in the Observing-Planetary forum. So here it is:
During the night of 2019 JUN 11-12 the Galilean satellites #1 Io and #3 Ganymede and their shadows will appear to be simultaneously transiting Jupiter. In fact, Io will be partially occulting its shadow.
Photos and descriptions of the event would be welcome additions to this thread.

It’s nearly time for my monthly New Moon spotting challenge. I use the term New Moon in its classical sense of one’s first sighting of the Moon after its conjunction (Dark Moon) with the Sun. The first realistic opportunity will come with the less than two-day-old Moon after sunset on June 4.
Photos and descriptions of the young crescent Moon this month would be welcome additions to this thread.

Giant Jupiter is approaching its opposition from the Sun on 2019 JUN 10 when it will appear in the sky all night at magnitude -2.6.
Photos and descriptions of Jupiter and its Galilean satellites would be welcome additions to this thread.

Elusive Mercury has commenced its apparition in the early evening western sky following its superior conjunction behind the Sun on 2019 MAY 21.
Photos and descriptions of Mercury during this apparition would be welcome additions to this thread.

Thanks for the tip, Stu. You run a nice Heads Up forum.
So is it advisable to post suitable information in both the Heads Up forum and another one like this one that is more descriptive of the topic?
