After an eyepiece 'purge and purchase', my little Olympus case has some new occupants.
There's even room for a couple of my little Zeiss orthos, but they're actually gonna live in a wooden box that I'm in the process of attempting to make look nice. And that's all I actually need......unless I can pick up some more Zeiss's or maybe some nice Brandons, or what about some Pentax SMC's, or.......!- 5

That's a big beastie Derek, even the Tele Vue finder is bigger than my new aquisition!
Look carefully or you won't even see it - it's a Borg Mini 60 achro, bought for when I fancy a night time bike ride to my local dark site. It works surprisingly well for such a little thing! It came with a Baader Amici prism and click lock clamp, mmmmmm nice! -
I think there might be a .965 to 1.25" diagonal on Astroboot Derek?
Yes, there is but it might make the optical path too long to use with a diagonal (depending on the diagonal), so measure first! My Lunt wedge doesn't come to focus in the Prinz for this very reason.

That's a very nice telescope you have. I completely missed it on eBay, but then again I have been doing my fair share of spending. I recently acquired a Tal R, and a Prinz 660. Just had first light with the Prinz tonight so report and pics due in soon:)

I will be smarter next time.
If there is a next time.
I am still getting my 24 Panoptic. And with that I should be pretty much fixed for a long time
Don't tell your girlfriend this though

Poor Alan, cursed with his own bad weather and the cause of ours
Out of interest does anyone else use the packets of silica gel in their cases, or in fact think it's something worth bothering with?
I wouldn't have gone out specially to buy one but I work in IT and a lot of kit we buy comes with - I figured it couldn't hurt popping one in my EP case.
If you have them, use them. They won't dry stuff out, but they certainly help with residual moisture. They come in all sorts of products these days from electronics to dried food. I'm surprised astro gear doesn't come supplied with them, Or does it? Haven't bought anything 'new' for quite a while!

I still think the eyepiece storeage area that Tim Wetherell made for his fantastic 8" refractor is the best I've seen. Come to mention it the scope is one of the best I've seen too
Wow. Just Wow

My case has a rubbery foam type material - also salvaged from the works bin which cuts very well - I use a ruler and scalpel

The thread that goes on and on!
I rescued my case from the works recycling bin - I could believe they were gonna chuck it, or that I spotted it before they did. I was home to a borescope, now houses something far nicer. The TV stuff is permanent, the MaxVision may have to give way to a Vixen SLV that is on its way to me, and there's room for one or two more goodies - you know how it is!

Oops, forgot to say that the quality isn't great because its a scan of a paper print!

Good luck! it is not as easy as it sounds. I'm afraid mine was a write off. Personally I think it is a poor design that has loose lenses inside and yet allows the barrel to be easily unscrewed - but I put it down to experience.
Hi, Did you get this sorted in the end? If not, and you still have the parts and still want it fixed, I would be willing to try. I don't have that much experience with eyepieces but I'm an ex-TVR (if you can fix these, you can fix anything!), Lotus and Aston Martin mechanic, and currently work in a metrology lab.

Show me your eyepiece/accessories case, please.

Docters history is intertwined with Zeiss, but there seems to be only one eyepiece made by them unless anyone knows otherwise. I've heard nothing but praise from experienced observers but they do have a hefty price tag.
