Superb!! We were totally clouded here in East Anglia - I was gutted. Hoping for a decent display in the next couple of days in the current weather window.

Cracking image, Jody - right up my street. Glad you managed to get back there to capture the MW. I like the fact that you've been restrained on the processing so it looks very natural; I tend to get a little carried away with my mind's eye. I like the extra detail the astro-mod has brought out; I've seen the odd 6Da for sale in the classifieds and definitely got twitchy fingers, but have opted for now to get really really used to my standard 6D.
Poor form on the non-stationary sheep though. 🤣
The 14mm Samyang is a formidable lens, isn't it? I've found I have to have very generous overlaps for panos because of the fairly significant distortion, but it gets great results.- 1

That was a fantastic display wasn't it ?
I'm not much of a photographer but managed to get something of it. With Neowise hanging in the sky it was a truly memorable sight.
Felt like I was the luckiest guy on earth witnessing it.

Thanks, Pete and Paul. Yes, it was lucky that I looked out when I did and that the sky was clear (of low cloud at least ) - it's been mostly cloudy since.
This was only the 4th noctilucent cloud display I've seen - the first was back in 1988, and the last was during one Comet NEOWISE imaging session in July 2020. Friday night's display was definitely the best of the 4.
Regards, Mike.
Always worth looking out, isn’t it?! The NLC alongside NEOWISE was one of the most memorable nights of my life. I just wish I’d been a bit more competent at photography when it was around.

I am very new to deep sky imaging so the only useful comment I have is “wow, incredible, that was worth waiting for!”.

That looks like a great display, and a fantastically original foreground! 👍
Great to hear that your move enhances your Astro opportunities.

Lovely display. Unfortunately cloud of the wrong kind down here in East Anglia!

That’s a beautiful image. It was a curious thing. I wonder if the same layer of ice crystals that have rise to the sun pillar also caused the NLC display from later on?

Great shot. Planetary geologists have proven that meteoroids are in fact sentient beings that can detect an open camera shutter and defer their descent until it is closed. Incredible stuff.

Great pictures, and a lovely foreground. I was out last night too and captured a not bad picture from my back garden, but nothing like your efforts.
Marv
Nicely captured Marvin. Lovely sharp image with good earthshine!

A short timelapse of a lovely display last night from the Cambridgeshire Fens.

I just think this is such a cool image. One for the bucket list. 👏

We were clouded out for the first 50 minutes, but it became intermittent thereafter and I managed to capture a timelapse over the final 70 minutes.

Love those - great to see the cloud whizzing by (you know, as good as it ever is to see clouds!).

A lovely landscape shot and I particularly like the tree reflections in the water as well as the stars.
I think the Kase filter has worked very well here and I think it's because you're pointing to an area that's not overloaded with stars. It has picked out Cassiopeia and Perseus a treat.
Dave.
Thanks Dave. I went quite heavy with the filter, using it for about 12s of each exposure.
It’s an interesting observation about which starfields to use it on. I was experimenting with it earlier on and took shots at 50mm of Cygnus and the Plough. To my eye, the Cygnus region looks a bit noisy / busy but I quite like the Plough. Here’s the two test shots:

I was out at one of the local nature reserves last night (RSPB Fen Drayton) hoping to capture some noctilucent clouds. Nothing had appeared by midnight so I took the opportunity to do some nightscape shots.
This one, looking to the north, is of Cassiopeia, Perseus and Andromeda taken from a disused lock on Covells Drain, just before where it flows into the River Great Ouse. I've noticed reflections in the drain before, and loved that I could see all the stars of Cassiopeia shimmering in the still water (although one's missing in the image!). Setting up my tripod safely was a bit of a challenge, with one leg perched precariously on a rotten wooden beam that crosses the lock.
📷 Canon 6D with Samyang 24mm f/1.4 lens at f/2.8, with Kase Starglow filter
🔧9x 15s exposures at ISO1600
🎞 Stacked in Sequator and final edits in Lightroom
This is the first nightscape image I've captured with the Kase / Alyn Wallace Starglow filter, which I think creates quite an attractive effect.
As ever, would love your thoughts, suggestions, comments etc. 😊✨📷

Lovely composition, Jody. Burrow Mump, as well as being ridiculously brilliantly named, looks like an awesome foreground subject.

What fantastic news. I had the pleasure of meeting @Chris a few years ago to collect a lovely Bresser AR127L and, as with any on SGL, he’s a thoroughly lovely chap. Thrilled for him and FLO.
