Anyone here can shed light on the fact I've recently got a see star, and I cant find how to save in any format other than JPEG, and also isn't saving to the main unit only my mobile phone? Also when I connect via USB my laptop to the unit, it only shows an empty folder. I've gone into my advanced settings and found nothing............any help much appreciated.

I've been into astronomy since I was 7, and I'm now 52, I feel your pain and totally understand where you are coming from. However for me my enthusiasm is still very good. But theres a number of things for me that keep me going. Back in 1999 I built my observatory, and I know a lot of people cant do the same, but theres a clear difference between having to set up each clear night, and just firing up the PC and rolling of the roof. Another thing for me is to keep evolving on your hobby, but this can be expensive over time, ie.......new cameras/filters to improve your images/ bigger scopes ect............and again this doesn't mean everyone's the same, but for me this keeps me wanting more. Everyone is different, but I hope you find your mojo again!

Astrodon and Chroma. But you'd have to weigh up whether it's worth the substantial cost for "marginal" improvement, people tend to buy them as they mitigate halos around bright stars which the baaders (and other brands) are notorious for.

What do you consider the best filter for imaging narrowband mainly h-alpha, I currently am using a Baader 7nm 1.25"................is there anything better, make/quality etc. The camera is an ASI 553MM Pro.

My C11 HD I used a lodestar X2, With OAG through a starlight xpress filter wheel. Worked fine. Having said that, I also used the focal reducer bringing it down to f7, at F10 it must be v hard to get focus etc when the seeing isn't to great..........

Also astro art does a similar thing called "coregister"..............

NGC 3938, and NGC 5907 galaxy's taken through a C11 HD edge with focal reducer. Both 16 x 6 min exposures. Filter used was a baader IR cut filter to reduce star bloat. Mount ioptron CEM 120. Camera is a ASI 553MC Pro. Taken a few weeks back, so much harder with the longer focal length (1960mm), but does provide a larger view...

Anyone on here use an ASI553MC Pro, and does there processing with astroart? I'm having an ongoing issue, when I open the fits file im getting all kinds of off-colours, I know its something to do with debayering, ive tryed every setting in Astroart (CCD colour synthesis and everything else I can think of!), any help would be great, as to what im doing wrong. I usually use the deep sky stacker software supplied with ASI but theres a lot more flexibility with astroart....

Grid lines in final stacked image (M81).
in Imaging - Deep Sky
Posted
Hi there,
Please see attached A final stacked image of M81 (No processing), any ideas why there seems to be grid lines running through the stacked image? It was 24 x 6 mins (-20 F). However when I added an extra 2 x 5 mins from a previous night it seems to of added the grid effect on the stack.....but surely I should be able to add more on different nights?? I don't usually have this problem, just every now and then. The camera is anASI 553 MM Pro, and I used a filter baader UV/IR Cut filter. Scope is an Altair astro EDF 150.
