  1. Oh, I see. So a NARROWER range is better. I see.
  2. Sorry, I am new to this. What do you mean with the Blue/Green cutoff? The B & G overlapping at 500nm is a GOOD or BAD thing?
  3. Thanks for that.. So are you saying that when I purchase an LRGB set, they should NOT cross the 400nm or 700nm limits? Somewhere between say, 350nm and 650nm?
  4. It seems Baader has a good rep from the previous posts? So, which Baader ones? are the LRGB 36mm a standard set, or are there different ones I should look out for? With regards to SHO, I'll look out for the 7nm Halpha, and 8.5nm OIII & Sulphur, and keep my fingers crossed. I've done some research on Astronomik, and it seems their OLD set go for good prices used? I think they are called 2C version? But then I read some posts to better stay away from the older versions? What about Antlia at 365, or the NEWER ZWO offerings?
  5. Evening everyone im planning to take the plunge into mono AP. The scope is an Esprit 100ED. Current camera is the 294MC Pro. I’m planning to buy the 2600MM Pro, so will need 36mm unmounted filters. I’m not sure what set I should go with? Optolong, Baader, the newer ZWO? I realise that experienced mono imagers go with 3nm SHO filters, but I think I will be happy with the 7nm/8.5nm variants as a newbie. With regards to LRGB, is there a huge quality difference between brands, as is the case with SHO? Also, if I get all 7 filters as a set, would they be all parfocal with regards to focus during an imaging session? Many thanks
  6. That's a funny coincidence! My current setup is what you used to own and moved on!! Well, I am keeping the AZ-EQ6 for the C11 and the Esprit, but I am seriously considering the CEM25 for a quick grab n go setup for the smaller refractors. I am very reluctant to buy the CEM26 at £1000+, as that is a very inflated price for such a low payload capacity mount. The current COVID situation has pushed up the prices to ridiculous levels. £700 would e a fair price for that mount. Frankly, when I come to think about it, the ease and speed of setup has become a much more important factor to me, especially with our CRAP weather. If I had an obs and permanent setup, that would be an entirely different matter.
  7. I had the mount and absolutely loved it. My better half forced me to sell it when I got the AZ-EQ6 Pro recently to carry my C11... 😔 I have an opportunity to but a used CEM25P for a good price, and I'm very keen to pull the trigger. Will be a good fit for my Altair 70EQD-R, but not sure about the Esprit 100ED. Whilst the AZ-EQ6 is an excellent mount, I HATE the time it takes to carry it out, set it up etc... I remember when I had the CEM25P I would get setup in under 5 minutes! and it was dead quiet, and I loved the handset and interface. I enjoyed using it compared to the AZ-EQ6. I very much regret letting it go...
  8. I've just weighed the Esprit with rings and dovetail, and it came to exactly 6kgms. Since my setup is OSC (no filter wheel etc), I'd say that the 294MC Pro, + extensions and Guidescope with 120MMmini would all come to 7kgms. I might even go with an OAG instead of guidescope to keep weight down. Should be ok? No?
  9. Thanks David. Good to know. BTW, I noticed in your sig you have a CEM25P. Would that mount carry an Esprit100ED well for AP? Thanks Ossi
  10. was interested to learn of previous experiences of members who bought the Esprits from FLO...
  11. Hi everyone When buying the Esprit line of APOs, my understanding is that FLO gets them all checked by Es Reid? Is the APO then shipped with a test certificate? Many thanks Ossi
  12. Agreed. But I prefer to buy from FLO, and the price hike is ONLY at FLO?
  13. Just noticed that all ioptron mounts have jumped in price overnight? Isn't this hobby all too expensive already!!?? Its annoying that almost everyone in the world over this past year has been hit financially with varying degrees, only to then have to contend with increasing prices...and Brexit...and COVID....better end it at that... CEM120: £3,789 on FLO? £3,250 everywhere else?
  14. Many thanks I have received a very informative explanation from Alex at FLO regarding 1/4-20. That's sorted!! Any thoughts on my other questions above in my painfully long post?
  15. I have finally received my Edge HD 11. I received it with the 0.7x reducer attached to the back of the scope. I am missing some parts, and would appreciate some advice. I will break it down to Visual & Imaging: 1-Visual: The parts that came with the scope are the Celestron 2" Diagonal and the 2" eyepiece. I did not receive the Adaptor plate or the Visual back, so I am unable to use the 2" Diagonal in the stock configuration. Can you please advise if I NEED to buy the Adaptor plate and visual back that I am missing? Do they serve any purpose other than attaching the 2" diagonal for visual use? Do I need these? I have removed the SCT ring from the diagonal and used a nosepiece instead, and fitted that into a 3.25" Baader Clicklock that I had. With this setup, will I ever need the adaptor plate or visual back? Will this work for visual? Imaging: I think I am OK for Imaging, but I need to buy the T-Adaptor that attaches to the back of the reducer. I have noticed there are TWO T-adaptors available for the edge: (I already own option 3) 1- Celestron T Adaptor #93646. This is the one recommended in the 0.7x reducer's manual. I think this ends in an M42 size 2- Celestron M48 T Adaptor #93622. I think this is for full frame cameras. 3- Celestron T Adaptor #93633-A. I had this for my C11, which I have just sold. I think this will NOT work on the 0.7x reducer (its too small?) Both T adaptors are £59. The smaller one is out of stock. I will be using ZWO cameras, which are all T threads and M42. Would getting the M48 one be more useful down the line should I get a larger format CCD? I currently have the 294MC Pro, but plan on getting the 2600MC Pro? I would need an M48-T adaptor ring to attach to the camera I have. Dovetail: Can you please tell me what bolts do I need to use in the holes I highlighted to avoid scope slippage? I think they are M6, but the thread does not accept my M6 bolts I have lying around. What is: 2-1/4-20/1" ??? Is that an Imperial measure? Many thanks
  16. This thread has deviated a little bit from the original topic on TS Optics.. But it's still very useful information, as I always wanted to know who makes the telescopes. So, there are basically 4 major OEMs for the refractors around the world? Please feel free to populate the venters who source their scopes from each OEM? Long Pen: ? KUO: ? Sharp Star: TS Optics, APM what else? Synta: Sky-Watcher Esprits etc
  17. Yes, I know. Jesper's!! I have been agonising over the second one he has for sale!! BTW, did you buy it this year, or last year BEFORE Brexit? Am I right in thinking that currently after Brexit there will be Tax & VAT applied?
  18. I thought that APM is one of the premium brands and made in Germany? Are APMs also made by Sharpstar in China?
  19. No one has given any thoughts or input on the TS Optics I have listed above though?
  20. @vlaiv amazing Vlaiv. Thanks a lot for your help!
  21. @vlaiv Hi Vlaiv I've come across Roddier 3.0 on Cloudy Nights, and after a google search, your post came up!! Being the genius we know you are, can you please break this test down into simple steps for us mere mortals? I'm interested in giving it a go? The camera I have is an OSC, the 294MC Pro. I have a mono 290MM Mini guide cam. Can I use that if Mono is a better option? Also, I do not have NB filters. I have a set of CHEAP RGB filters. Would they work? Thanks in advance!!
  22. Seriously John, come on, I was asking in my original post about scopes IN STOCK... That's a 240 days waiting time...!! I'd order it IF it was in stock.... 😂
