Are you getting the error message from an Ascom application? If so it sounds like you have the wrong driver or COM port selected. Can you send commands to the nano from the Arduino Serial Monitor (e.g. V# should return the version number of the sketch). Check you have the correct baud rate set (9600).
hi dave its windows that comes up with the error i did check with ascom diagnosis its says same thing

from what i gather although havent tested yet as its lashing down here it thinks its a relative focuser ( which sgpro dosent support)not absolute now im sure its absolute can a tick box be added in the ascom driver to tell it its absolute

well i have answered my own question there is a tick box in poth to say its absolute still not working tho and its still raining so i will test tomorrow

I have been using aaf2 with sgpro and it works seamlessly, the autofocus routine is a joy to use and i have it set to refocus every degree change.Try connecting as poth hub.
ok a silly question how do i do that please

Hi, no reason why it shouldn't work as its a standard Ascom interface. Are you definitely using my focuser and not the SGL one - there has been some confusion in the past. Also, the application that come with my focuser (FocusAAF2) is not a fully functional and finshed product. I wrote it for testing and to show how the Ascom driver is called. Can you get more details of the error message? Is anyone else using my focusser with sgpro?
Thanks.
hi dave deff yours mate aaf2, i will be in the obsy later so i will get the msg could be a sgpro problem tho
-
hi dave been using this software must be for a couple of years now . will it work in sgpro or rather mine doesnt it throws an error something about 100000 steps not at obsy computer so cant say what it says properly

problem solved thanks guys its all working now

Just a thought, it's definitely torque that's diminishing and not speed?
I believe that the last 25 steps are done with a larger delay so it slows down. So it would appear to do so half way through a 50 step operation.
ah that could be it i can hold it gently in my fingers and it turns ,half way through the 50 steps it starts to lose torque
if i do a larger step say 500 right at the end it does the same thing so its just slowing down can this be changed in the sketch or is this like a safety feature

loads of daft questions i know never done anything like this before
-
power at the driver board is just under 9 volts so the power is there ,i tried another 5v motor just in case that one was duff same problem think i will order a 12v stepper motor from a different supplier
-
its free running at the mo i tried a rubber band that didn't work
-
it gets halfway through then it sounds like its stuttering if that makes sense
-
Are you using an external power supply for the stepper driver e.g. battery. The 5V from the nano alone does not give enough torque.
hi dave yep using a 9 volt pp3

its in a project box now and working the only thing is if i do small steps i.e. 50 the motor starts off ok then looses torque about half way through is this a problem if i do a goto say 500 steps loads of torque

ps I'm just waiting on some belts ordered a couple different sizes just in case
